Garment Care & Textile Preservation Guide
VISRA Suit Sets and Co-ords are crafted with pure natural silks, certified azo-free hand-dyes, and authentic metallic zari yarns. Follow our atelier rituals to maintain their luster, vibrancy, and drape for decades to come.
Textile-Specific Cleansing & Steaming Protocols
Each VISRA ensemble combines pure silk weaves, delicate zari yarns, and soft mulmul linings. Follow our fabric-by-fabric guidelines:
| Textile Material | Recommended Cleaning | Ironing & Steaming Protocol |
|---|---|---|
| Pure Chanderi Silk Suit Sets | Hydrocarbon Dry Clean Only | Low silk steam on reverse side only; avoid dampening zari |
| Opulent Roman Silk Sets | Specialist Silk Dry Clean | Low heat iron with cotton pressing cloth; naturally crease-resistant |
| Featherlight Chinon & Printed Tunics | Gentle Delicate Dry Clean | Vertical garment steam held 6 inches away; do not wring |
| Soft Vertical Silk Palazzo Sets | Hydrocarbon Dry Clean Only | Hang on padded wooden hanger; steam lightly along vertical drape |
| Mul Chanderi & Pure Mulmul Linings | Cleaned together with outer silk | Steam in tandem; allows breathability & softness |
| Tissue & Organza Dupattas | Ultra-Delicate Dry Clean | Never iron directly; roll loosely or steam lightly on hanger |
Preserving Metallic Zari & Embroidered Yokes
Authentic zari contains micro-fine filaments of silver and gold-electroplated copper yarns. To keep the embroidery glowing with festive radiance:
- Keep Perfumes & Mists Away: Alcohol and aromatic sprays trigger rapid oxidation of metallic zari. Apply perfumes, body lotions, and hair sprays at least 10 minutes before wearing your kurta set.
- Air Out After Celebrations: Before placing your suit set back in its keepsake box, hang it in a dry, shaded, well-ventilated room for 4 to 6 hours to dissipate body heat and natural moisture.
- Jewelry & Safety Pin Etiquette: Sharp prongs on heavy neck chokers can catch delicate neckline threadwork. Use pearl-headed pins rather than sharp steel safety pins to secure your dupatta.
Emergency Stain First-Aid Protocol
| Accidental Spill | Immediate At-Home Action | Follow-Up Atelier Care |
|---|---|---|
| Turmeric / Haldi & Food Curry | Gently blot with dry cotton tissue. Do NOT apply water or rub. | Send for professional oxygen dry cleaning within 48 hours |
| Oil & Ghee Droplets | Sprinkle unscented talcum powder to absorb grease droplets. | Dust off powder after 20 minutes; send for dry clean |
| Beverages, Tea or Coffee | Dab lightly with a slightly damp clean white cotton cloth. | Do not heat dry; send to dry cleaner promptly |
Wardrobe Storage & Preservation in Muslin
- Always Store in Breathable Cotton Muslin (Malmal): Wrap your suit set inside the unbleached cotton muslin bag provided with your order. Muslin allows atmospheric air exchange while blocking dust particles.
- The 6-Month Refolding Ritual: For handloom silk kurta sets and flared shararas stored folded, unfold and re-crease along alternative folds once every 6 months to prevent permanent metallic fiber fatigue.
- Natural Botanical Repellents: Place natural cedarwood blocks or dried neem leaves wrapped in cloth sachets in your wardrobe. Never place chemical naphthalene balls in direct contact with pure silk.
Frequently Asked Questions
We strictly advise against domestic machine or hand washing for any piece featuring metallic zari, hand-dyed pure silks, or ornate yokes. Domestic detergents and water can weaken natural silk filaments, cause natural dye bleed, and distort delicate interlinings. Professional hydro-carbon dry cleaning by a luxury textile specialist is required.
